Cycling Safely
Pay attention to what's going on around you and what other road users might do. Be aware of blind spots around large vehicles.
If possible, try to make eye contact with drivers so you are sure they have seen you.
Use appropriate hand signals when making a left or right turn.
Don’t ride in the gutter. If the road is too narrow for vehicles to pass you safely, it may be safer to ride towards the middle of the lane to prevent dangerous overtaking by other vehicles.
When riding past parked cars, leave plenty of room between you and the car in case a car door opens suddenly.
Make use of the advanced stop line for cyclists at traffic lights if there is one.
