Protecting Yourself
Wearing the right clothes makes cycling more comfortable as well as helping to keep you safe. Try to avoid baggy clothes or anything that could get caught up in the wheels or pedals.
Wear a reflective jacket or clothing with reflective strips – even on a sunny day, a cyclist in black clothing is difficult to see.
Wearing a properly fitted helmet can help protect your head in the event of a fall. It should fit snugly and be secured under your chin – many helmet retailers will help you to get the right fit.
Avoid wearing headphones as they prevent you from hearing traffic noise, car horns and so on.
